Body Charge Latest News

September 22nd, 2007

Body Charge Inc. LA’s premiere seated massage company, will provide chair massage, foot reflexology and aromatherapy at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles Annual Health Fair for the 7th year in a row on October 3rd, 2007.
An avid fan of children and their health care, Paul Guditis founder of BCI, says that this is one of the most enjoyable and fulfilling events of the year. “I figure if we can provide any kind of relief for the doctors and the nurses at the hospital, the children receiving treatment will be the beneficiaries. What’s not to like about that?”

BCI provides the hospital with massage 3 times a month, and at very reduced rates. “At the hospital, it’s not about the money, it’s about kids, and helping the kids. I don’t make a dime on this, and the therapists charge a reduced rate. It’s a privilege to walk in and be of service in some small way.”

Meditation and Massage

September 4th, 2007

One of the ways that one can reduce stress is practicing meditation. Combined with massage, it is a great way of taking care of yourself, and enjoying health. Meditation is a way of calming the mind and slowing down the breathing and blood pressure. A lot of times the stressful situation is not the problem, but more about the way one thinks about the situation.
Meditation is not spacing out with eyes closed, nor is it day dreaming or repeating affirmations. It is a gentle way of calming the mind. By calming the mind, and focusing attention on the breath, eventually the way things are viewed, changes and shifts.

Below is a link that is a simple way of starting a meditation practice. Give it time, because meditation has a cumulative effect. 10 minutes a day regularly is better than an hour sit, and then skipping 3 days at a time. Enjoy this simple but effective way of reducing stress!

Holiday Stress

December 11th, 2006

The holidays are upon us and although this is a time of good cheer, along with the season comes stress.  Shopping, racking up credit cards, relatives, parents, kids, and an overall abundance of activities, tend to make the Christmas vacation work rather than a peaceful break from work.

So take a break and make time for yourself.  Massage is a wonderful way to get back to center and relax.  Your blood pressure and heart rate return to baseline, your blood flow readjusts, muscles relax, and you move toward a state of recovery and recuperation.  Your immune system strengthens because of the increased flow of lymph cells through your system.

And Breathe.

Happy Holidays and a healthy, peaceful New Year.

Fight or Flight

May 9th, 2006

Much of our stress comes from threats, real or imagined, to our social status, not to our lives. But if this fight or flight reaction is kicking in even when there is no threat, it can cause long term problems.

Headaches, IBS, chronic fatigue, high blood pressure, are just some of the conditions that can be produced by long term stress. Job burnout, exhaustion are all symptoms of stress over long periods of time.

Managing stress, as opposed to reacting to it, is the key.  Life isn’t going to go our way all the time. It never does, and it isn’t supposed to.  However, dealing with the hand we’re dealt, as opposed to reacting to it, and the skills necessary for that, are important to learn.

One of the ways that mobile massage and chair massage do that is by pacifying the sympathetic nervous system. Its function is to speed things up, during fight or flight. Massage stimulates the parasympathetic nervous system. Its function is to slow and calm things down. More on this in another blog, soon to come.

Job Stress

March 31st, 2006

One of the great things about seated chair massage and mobile massage therapy is that it can come to you, on the job, in the heat of battle!!

The Touch Therapy Institute Research at University of Miami did a study on a 15-minute chair massage and its effect on job related stress, ie anxiety, productivity and job satisfaction. This was done twice weekly during lunch, for 5 weeks.

The results:

1. participants reported feeling less fatigue and being able to think more clearly;

2. EEG alpha, beta, and theta waves were altered in ways that are consistent with enhanced alertness

3. math problems were completed in approximately half the time with approximately 50% less errors by the end of the intervention

4. anxiety levels were lower at the end of the one monthperiod, and

5 the massage therapist reported that the subjects were more relaxed by the end of the one month intervention

Body Charge can bring this service to your office, event or mobile tour complete with aromatherapy, hot stones, reflexology or chair massage. Nationwide.
